Due to changing servers, it has become necessary to change the “look and feel” of the Florida Autoracing.com website.
It is a work in progress, will be looking nicer as we go along.

George Gorham Jr. Keeps on Truckin
Team Press Release
By Racers-Image May 19, 2008
LAKELAND, FL George Gorham Jr. wins race number three out of his four starts in the Advance Auto Parts FASCAR ProTruck Series at Columbia Motorsports Park Saturday night. The #10 Strutmasters.com /Bedrock Cafe sponsored Chevy Silverado Team is on a roll leading the Championship Points battle since his season opening win at USA Speedway in Lakeland, Florida.
Post qualifying a confident Gorham Jr. stated “We came here to win, we have won here before and I was fastest in practice. I over drove the truck going for the pole on the first lap in qualifying but the second lap was a 19.09 just 1/100th of a second behind the pole winner. We will start from the third spot and just go to the front from there.”
And go is just what he did. The slick #10 ProTruck was in the lead by lap 2 and paced field till the big mishap on lap 50. The truck had damage to the nose, front suspension and windshield after getting hit by one of the spinning competitors. The spotter Rich Reinhardt came on the radio and said “The tires look up and it is not loosing water, it will be a green, white, checkerÂ.” The radio crackled back with an agitated Gorham Jr. saying “The toe is knocked out …OK, I’m going for it, bring it on”Â

Subject: It is Super Stock Night Friday at Orlando SpeedWorld
Orlando, FL (April 28, 2008) Super Stocks are in for a treat this Friday night at Orlando SpeedWorld when not only do they get in free that night to race but also will have a 50 lap feature with NO entry fee.
“The Super Stocks have supported us all year and we just want to show them our appreciation,” said General Manager Rusty Marcus. “It is time promoters and general manager show how much they do appreciate the people who come and support them every weekend and hopefully this Friday night Super Stocks will come in numbers to show us that we are also appreciated for our efforts.”
“Last Friday night it was Strictly Stock night at Orlando and all Strictly Stock drivers with a car got in free. I was a little disappointed in the number but we are hoping for a big turnout this Friday. With the economy the way it is right now, it is the lower classes who find it most affordable to race these days.”
“Normally there is a $50.00 entry fee for our 50 lap races but I decided to waive that and show them just how much we do appreciate their support, and we do. During May on Friday nights, each of our classes will get in free to race and hopefully this will help them some to come and race.
Due to the ASA Southeast race at USA International and the Extreme Modified 50 there also, Super Lates and Modifieds will have the night off but there will be Sportsman, Super Stock, Mini Stock and Strictly Stock and the fans won’t be disappointed.
Pit gate will open at 4 pm on Friday with qualifying for the Super Stock 50 at 7 pm. Racing starts at 8 pm. General Admission is $10.00, students and seniors (62 and older) $5.00, children 11 and under FREE.

Action at the Little 500 |
Click the picture for more photos
Roughly 60 drivers and fans turned out for the Little 500, produced by Rex “Boneman” Hollinger. The racing action was fierce, supposedly a relaxing night turned in to screaming, shouting, ejections, fists pumping - in other words a normal night of racing for the OSW group.
Seriously, fun was had by all, but Ron McCreary really did get ejected! (Who did you expect???)

Two Super Late Model Drivers Defect To Dirt
by BJ Cavin
Two huge names in asphalt super late model racing have purchased new Master Built dirt late models and plan to race at Ocala Speedway in 2008. Mike Bresnahan is the defending late model champion at Citrus County Speedway in Inverness, and Wayne Anderson is the five time Powell Memorial Champion who is widely known for his exploits in the Sunbelt Super Late Model Series. Both are committed to racing on dirt for 2008 and Ocala Speedway will be their home track. They will be joining former Sunbelt racer, Rich Pratt, who made the transition to dirt last year and has begun making a name for himself at Volusia County Speedway. Pratt also plans to race on Friday nights at Ocala in 2008.
Rumor has it that other drivers who are known for their racing on asphalt may be pondering the idea of making the switch to dirt. Expenses are one reason, as racing on asphalt has become a very expensive affair in the last few years, and the costs to be competitive show no signs of slowing down. Dirt racers spend far less on tires, and their machines require far less expensive equipment in order to be competitive.
Opening night at Ocala Speedway will be on Friday, February 29th, and will feature the inaugural points race for the United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series. That will be a 40 lap feature called “The Leap Year Challenge” that will pay $3000. Up to three other divisions will hit the track along with the late models on opening night. In the meantime plans are still in the works for at least three open practices before opening night. The first of those practice sessions for all divisions is scheduled for Saturday, January 26th.
