My last gasp at a NY band was "Circus" which was a shameless attempt to be a Big Hair, Glitter and Glam band, ala Bon Jovi, et al. In spite of this it was a helluva band. Ken Colerick was (and still is) an incredible guitar player and had that Eddie Van Halen look. Phil Arcuri had stage presence up the yin yang and could really work a crowd. In the studio his adenoids came out but he's still very talented. Darin "Stevens" Kinser was a rocker on bass as well. The weakest link was our drummer, Danny "Bud" Budzinski. Danny had the look and the energy on stage but he was just not cut out for studio work. We brought in outside help from Mr. Edd, Jim Lucas to play drums, Monk Rowe to help me out on sax, and Greeley Ford to produce.

We had "The Buzz" going all around Central NY and produced these four songs for a demo tape. It didn't hurt that Phil's cousin was Fran Cosmo, who went on to be a lead singer for Boston.

The plan was to move to Florida so we could get in to a growing market and a better economy. Funny thing, when it was time to pack up and move, one by one the guys dropped out and I moved alone.

This song was written about a relationship with Kate, a friend from General Electric. She introduced me to Christian Music, hence the Dove reference.

Phil wrote the words to this song about an old girlfriend. Ken Colerick and I took the melody and changed it to a ballad. Fran Cosmo (now lead singer of Boston) helped us out on some vocals.

Phil had this idea about a wedding band called "A Circle of Silver." Ken and I sat in the White Tower practice room with him one night and hammered out this song. I wrote the cool, descending guitar part for the verses but Ken played it on the tape, because he is better!

We had a lot of hope for this song. Phil and I came up with the motif and Ken was critical in the chorus. This was one that our early producer, Bob "Baba the Hut" Acquaviva helped us arrange. In the chorus you will hear us doing a refrain, "no, no, no, no, no" which always reminds me of the Andrew Sisters. It's all his fault. It was supposed to be "No more tears" again, but he talked us in to that bubble gum feel. His other contributions were valuable but I'll always blame him for that. I love the keyboards on this song.
